Learning from Home

At our school, we are committed to ensuring that learning continues in a supportive, manageable and meaningful way whenever children are required to learn from home.

Our approach to remote learning is designed to:

  • Maintain continuity with classroom learning

  • Support children’s wellbeing and confidence

  • Be accessible for families

  • Reflect the high expectations we have for all pupils

Supporting your child with remote learning

If your child needs to learn from home, work will be set by the class teacher in line with what is being taught in school. Learning will focus on core skills, alongside opportunities to practise and apply learning in an engaging way.

To support your child at home, we ask that families:

  • Encourage children to complete the work set by their class teacher

  • Support children in accessing online learning tools when needed

  • Share completed work in the way requested by the teacher

  • Contact the class teacher if there are any difficulties or questions

We understand that every household is different, and we aim to work flexibly and compassionately with families.

Online learning tools

As part of our remote learning provision, we may use the following platforms to support learning:

Lexia

Some pupils have access to Lexia, an online literacy programme that supports reading development. It adapts to each child’s level and helps strengthen key skills in phonics, reading and comprehension.

Blooket

Blooket is used to support learning through interactive quizzes and games. It helps children revisit and practise key knowledge in a fun, engaging way.

If your child has login details for any online platforms, these will be shared by the class teacher. If you need support with access, please get in touch.

Staying safe online

We recognise the importance of keeping children safe while learning online. We strongly encourage families to:

  • Set age-appropriate parental controls on devices

  • Supervise online activity where possible

  • Talk to children about safe and responsible internet use

Useful guidance for families can be found at:

  • ThinkUKnow

  • Parent Info

  • Internet Matters

  • UK Safer Internet Centre

Routine and wellbeing

Maintaining a simple daily routine can help children feel secure and reduce anxiety when learning from home. We recommend including time for:

  • Learning

  • Play and physical activity

  • Relaxation and rest

Children do not need to work all day — balance and wellbeing are important.

How to contact us

If you have any questions, concerns or need support with remote learning, please contact your child’s class teacher directly. They will be happy to help and work with you to support your child’s learning.

Alternatively, the school office can also assist with general enquiries.

A message to families

We understand that learning at home can feel challenging at times. Please be reassured that we value partnership, flexibility and kindness, and our priority is always your child’s learning and wellbeing.

If you need support, please get in touch.

Blooket

Welcome to the World of Blooket: a new take on trivia and review games!
The way it works is that a teacher/host picks a question set and a unique game mode. Then, we generate a code that players can use to join the game on their own devices. After the game starts, players will answer questions to help them win. That's where the fun starts, because we offer a variety of games to keep students engaged and excited!

Hogwarts Escape Room

We love this Harry Potter Escape Room and think the children in upper KeyStage 2 might like it too! Why not have a go as a team in your household or maybe even challenge each other to complete it quickest?
