Policies, Equality & GDPR
School policies create a framework for sharing information and establishing standards of behaviour and conduct. The partnership between the school, the parents and the children will be established within this policy framework.
GDPR & Data Protection
Aldbrough Primary School collects and uses personal information about staff, pupils, parents and other individuals who come into contact with the school. This information is gathered in order to enable it to provide education and other associated functions. In addition, there may be a legal requirement to collect and use information to ensure that the school complies with its statutory obligations.
Data protection laws give confidence to individuals that their personal data will be treated appropriately and that it will not be misused. The school and its staff have a duty to protect data and treat information securely. They protect personal data that is data about living identifiable individuals.
Data protection legislation (UK GDPR, DPA 2018 and all other applicable law about processing of personal data and privacy), reinforce common sense rules regarding information handling which most organisations, including our school would try to follow anyway.
The Data Protection Act 2018 is the UK’s implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Under the Data Protection Act, you have the right to find out what information the government and other organisations store about you. These include the right to:
- be informed about how your data is being used
- access personal data
- have incorrect data updated
- have data erased
- stop or restrict the processing of your data
- data portability (allowing you to get and reuse your data for different services)
- object to how your data is processed in certain circumstances
You also have rights when an organisation is using your personal data for:
- automated decision-making processes (without human involvement)
- profiling, for example to predict your behaviour or interests
There is stronger legal protection for more sensitive information, such as:
- race
- ethnic background
- political opinions
- religious beliefs
- trade union membership
- genetics
- biometrics (where used for identification)
- health
- sex life or orientation
There are separate safeguards for personal data relating to criminal convictions and offences.
Requests for information can be sent to aldbrough.primary@eastriding.gov.uk

EYFS Policies
We have a range of nursery policies as well as procedures to ensure your child remains safe in our care.
Policies and procedures are essential to help provide a good quality provision that is compliant with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The EYFS requires providers to have written policies and procedures; and to provide staff with training at induction to ensure that they fully understand, and know how to implement, the policies and procedures and to ensure that they are accessible and clearly explained to parents.
